Bonjour! This week the students were working on a problem involving a boy (Sylvain) who falls off his bike and needs a lot of bandaids. It was a challenging story to read but the students persevered and used many different strategies for counting the number of bandaids in the story, including tallies, drawing a diagram, and making lists. Today the students acted out the story in their groups, using counters as representing the bandaids. It looked like this:
After the bandaids were all counted, the class then was asked to compare the number of bandaids on Sylvain to the number of bandaids in a box of 30.
