Here is a learning tool we call "La Grille de Dix" or 10-frame in English. We are using this to compare numbers to anchors of 5 and 10.
This week, students filled in the Grille using coloured counters to represent the number of letters in a name. (Example: Monsieur has 8 letters, so 8 counters are put on the frame)
Note that counters are added to the Grille from the TOP LEFT, then MOVE to the RIGHT before filling up the second row below as the number of counters increases.
The learning is to compare the number of counters to 5 and 10: is this MORE THAN 5? is this LESS than 5? is this EQUAL to 5? HOW MANY MORE? HOW MANY LESS?
in French it sounds like: "Est-ce que c'est plus de cinq?" (is this more than 5?) "Est-ce que c'est moins de dix?" (is this less than 10?) "Est-ce que ca egale cinq?" (does this equal 5?)
Extensions you could do: practice with representing names/numbers using the grille de dix.
We have also learned numbers to 17 officially in French. To practice, we have been using a French music video:

Have fun! Amusez-vous!
