Grade 2 Learning - The Big Scoop Estimating Game
Bonjour! This week we have been working with picking a target number from 10 to 50 and trying to 'scoop out' that many of an item from a container (counters, lego, elastics, etc). First pick the target number and write it in the circle. Then try to scoop out that many. Count the scooped out items and record the number in the box on the left under the circle (see explanations and sheet below). Then scoop a second time with the intention to get CLOSER to the target number, now that a reference is known. Count the amount in the second scoop and record on the page. Choose another number and repeat.
The students have been using the language of TROP (too many) or PAS ASSEZ not enough to quantify their scooped estimates.
Have fun!
Amusez-vous!
