Grade 2 learning - Les Representations des Nombres

Bonjour! This week we were reviewing and working on representing two-digit numbers in a variety of ways. Here is an example of some ways to represent a number:
Note we have (starting from 12 o'clock and going around) a calendar, number sentences (10+10 = 20), tallies, the word, objects, a representation of grilles de dix (ten frames), number line, a number list.  Others that could be included are our "blocs de dix" (base ten blocks), a digital clock (ie 2:20), money (although we aren't learning about money in this unit). Please note that a PARTIAL number line is acceptable (ie ---19---20---21---) and that if the number is over 31, a calendar is not a good way to represent the number anymore.  Look for one of these coming home today with your learner. Ask them to explain what they did to represent their number. When practicing this activity with numbers to the 50's, please watch for correct use of TALLIES (ie four vertical lines and one horizontal to make 5), and check if your learner is using SEVEN days in a row if using a calendar to represent their number.  If you want to create a challenge at home, select the number by rolling a dice twice, one for each digit (although technically we are working up to the 50's this unit). The BIG ONES are: tallies, number line, number sentences, the word, (and I personally like base ten representations)!  Bon weekend tout le monde!
