Grade 2 Learning - Representing with Grilles de 10 and # lines

This week we focused on representing different numbers up to 50 using Grilles de 10 and number line segments. The connection we are looking to notice is that the closer we are to filling a certain number of ten frames, the closer a number should be to a '10' on the number line.  Here is an example:
I asked the students to draw their grilles of 10 first, and then take away any they didn't need to represent their number by drawing an x in the boxes they wanted to eliminate. The students then drew a number line segment and located their number on the line.  Look for these coming home today and feel free to practice with other numbers over the weekend.  Happy Thanksgiving!!
