Grade 1 Learning - number patterns

Bonjour!
This week we focused on finding patterns in the 100's chart (grille de cent) and working with repeating number patterns. I ask students to show 3 repetitions when they create patterns. Here is an example:

Students were asked and asked one another 4 main questions this week:
1. Quel est la suite?
(What is the pattern?) For this question it is appropriate to read the pattern out loud, ie "8, 7, 6, 8, 6, 7, 8, 7, 6."
2. Quel est la partie qui répète?
(What part repeats?) In this question, we are asking students to identify the core of the pattern, ie "8, 7, 6."
3. Quel est la règle de la suite?
(What is the rule of the pattern?) For this question, we summarize the pattern, ie "8, 7, 6, et répète." (8, 7, 6, and repeat)
4. Qu'est-ce qui vient après?
(What comes next?) In this question, we are asking the students to extend the pattern, ie "8... 7... 6... 8...."

Feel free to practice with these questions and your own patterns at home. These questions are also valid for geometric patterns (shapes, colours, etc).
