We had an exciting week learning and practicing our addition facts up to 10+10. Ideally, students should be able to memorize their 'doubles' facts (ie 2+2, 4+4, etc) and then use that knowledge to figure out other questions that are close to doubles (ie, 2+3, 8+9, etc).
Today to practice I had students trade holiday cards that had math questions inside, so when opened, you might see:
The students answer each others' cards, then proceed and exchange with a new partner, and answer two more questions.
We also worked the 'tens compliments' which are two numbers that make 10, for example 2&8, 3&7, etc, for sums up to 20. These addition facts can be practiced and memorized at home, along with subtraction facts for numbers up to 20. Thanks for a great term and all the support. We will start the new year with measurement. Bonnes vacances!!
