This week we started working on our measurement unit. We will be doing measurement for a few weeks, starting with length. The students were asked to build their own measuring tools this week using bristol board strips and construction paper squares. The squares are 2cm by 2cm but we haven't measured them to be that size. They are designed to be used to count the 'non-standard units' of squares. The ends were intended to be left open so that they can be held with two hands for measuring items. Here are a few examples:
