Grade 1 learning - les serpents ctd

Bonjour!
This week we continued our exploration of length using non-standard units with measuring snakes in the zoo as our problem. After trying a few types of string, I finally discovered yarn as a good material for measuring the snakes and cutting to the correct length. Measuring the actual snakes looked a bit like this:
After the snakes had been represented with yarn, each table had a different unit to measure the strings with to help compare the snakes. Each person in the group had to write an estimate of how many units they thought their snake would measure, then they actually measured the snake and recorded the measurement. Next week we will be looking at the data we collected and then moving on to measuring area. Bon weekend!
