This week we explored the concept of capacity by estimating then measuring the capacity of four different containers. We used a water table and a sand table, along with four large water containers to fill the containers with. Students had to record their estimates of the amount of 'scoops' required to fill each of the four containers, then measure them with the scoop and record the measure. Finally they had to order their four containers from smallest to largest. We noticed that even if a container is taller, it might not necessarily have a larger capacity. Below are some photos from our testing. Next week we will be working with telling time. Thanks for reading!
