Grade 1 learning - part-part-whole
Bonjour! This week we have continued with our two-colour trains and related mathematical sentences, extending to 10 cars in each train. The main thing we are trying to see is that numbers can be broken into two parts, that add up to make a 'whole'. The whole is the total number of cars in the train, the parts are how many cars of each colour. We want students to get comfortable knowing how many more or less it might take to get to ten or another number when we think about adding and subtracting, among other skills. Have a great weekend!
