Grade 1 learning - two-colour trains

Bonjour! This week we have been exploring mathematical symbols (+,-,=) and writing some math equations to represent some situations. Students were asked in pairs to create as many unique two-colour trains as they could using snap cubes or colour tiles. They were then to write the mathematical sentence below to match the trains. Trains were to be 5 cars long, have two colours, and the two colours could not be 'mixed'. Here are some examples:
